Finding affordable, low cost furniture that looks good is always going to be a challenge. With the price of solid wood furniture going up and up, we considered second hand furniture, but oh what a mess.
I don't know what people are doing with their things but they certainly aren't looking after them. We came across pieces of furniture that at first glance looked great but where either falling apart on closer inspection or needed plenty of work to look good enough for our house. This is when we decided to look for ex warehouse or factory shop stock. The prices where good but again the furniture was not in the greatest condition.
Next came auctions. What a nightmare! Extra costs added in for delivery or having to arrange delivery ourselves, prices being pushed up by angry dealers and then minimum bids not being reached so no sale.
